Hennessey talk at Stanford University on a philosophy of birth and rebirth through art
This past Tuesday, April 23rd, I gave a talk as an invited speaker with Stanford University’s Division of Literatures, Cultures, and Languages Department, discussing a philosophy of birth and rebirth through art. The talk stems from research on Catalan art about birth and rebirth, as seen in a video I made in 2021 and a 2023 article on the topic I wrote, which was published by the journal Religions. Both of those items are available open source.
The talk was part of a wonderful celebration of the day of Sant Jordi, the full information of which is here: https://dlcl.stanford.edu/events/sant-jordi-2024-hennessey-ilac
The discussion revolved around the powerful way in which art and other images of birth and rebirth impact transformations of individual and communal identities.
